DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT UPDATED PARKING AND SHUTTLE: \nDue to the number of attendees and very limited parking on-site at Cleveland Thermal’s plant\, Alexis from Cleveland Thermal has offered to provide a shuttle from a nearby parking lot to the plant.\n\nThere is a large parking lot next to the Noble Beast at:\n1470 Lakeside Ave E \nCleveland\, OH 44114\n\n\nEveryone should park at this parking lot. Alexis from Cleveland Thermal will meet the group in front of the Noble Beast. A shuttle will pick you up in front of the Noble Beast at 11:30am so please arrive on time. It will shuttle everyone back to their cars at 1pm.\n\n\nCorix’s Cleveland Thermal district energy system has delivered thermal energy to downtown Cleveland for over a century. Today\, the system operates with 450\,000 lb/hr of steam capacity\, 13\,500 tons of chilled water capacity\, and 1 MW of CHP. \nThis tour and presentation will highlight how district energy aggregates building loads to improve efficiency\, reduce installed capacity\, and enable unique waste heat recovery opportunities. You’ll also see how district energy is being applied in new greenfield and brownfield developments\, integrating high-efficiency technologies and providing scalable decarbonization solutions. \nAlexis Omilion is Director of Business Development at Corix\, where she advances sustainable thermal energy infrastructure by partnering with developers\, municipalities\, and institutions to deliver resilient\, low‑carbon district energy systems. Alexis has more than 12 years of experience in engineered thermal systems\, waste‑heat recovery\, low‑carbon fuels\, and utility infrastructure. DESCRIPTION:Join us at our April meeting for an insightful and unique look into Ohio’s energy markets and regulatory environment. David and Katie are two of the top experts in their field in Ohio. If you ever wanted your Ohio energy markets questions answered by some of the most knowledgeable people in the industry\, this is your chance. \nSome topics that will be covered include: \n\nHow the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio determines utility rates in Ohio for electric and gas utility customers.\nHow Ohio House Bill 15 and Ohio Senate Bill 103 passed last year change utility rate cases.\nUpdate on the recently concluded FirstEnergy and AEP Ohio rate cases and a look ahead at the future.\nData center load growth in Ohio and PJM\, and generation capacity shortfalls in PJM.\n\n  \nDavid Proaño\, Partner\, BakerHostetler\, co-leads BakerHostetler’s national Energy Industry team\, representing clients across the nation in the utility and energy industries. David focuses his practice on utility matters\, rate-making\, regulatory compliance\, commission investigations\, retail and wholesale energy contracts\, behind-the-meter generation and commercial disputes and business issues in the utility and energy sectors.  David has over a dozen years of experience with multiple facets of the energy industry\, including advising energy-intensive commercial and industrial energy users and large data centers on establishing and expanding utility service. He routinely appears and practices before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) on utility\, rate-making\, regulatory and litigated matters\, including representing energy trade associations in rate-making matters\, natural gas companies in utility matters and serving as lead defense counsel in several major PUCO investigations of certified retail energy suppliers. \n  \nKatie Emling\, Energy Analyst\, Brakey Energy\, is responsible for reporting and communicating bill analyses and regulatory issues that affect the quality and cost of energy. She monitors activity at PJM Interconnection\, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio\, and the state legislature\, and then identifies issues that may impact clients’ energy costs. Katie also analyzes customers’ usage and billing data to ensure accuracy and identify savings opportunities. \nKatie joined Brakey Energy in January 2018. Prior to Brakey Energy\, Katie spent five years as an Energy Efficiency Engineer in Michigan for DNV GL and Consumers Energy. Her work included managing the Michigan utility’s New Construction Energy Efficiency Rebate Program for commercial and industrial customers and assisting in the launch and operation of the utility’s commercial and industrial demand response program. \nKatie has held Certified Energy Manager® credentials through the Association of Energy Engineers. She holds a M.S. in Civil Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S. in Engineering Physics from John Carroll University. Anthony Manna and Shawn DaVis will bring unique view points from both the installer/developer and non-profit economic development perspectives. \nSome topics that will be covered include: \n\n\nSolar & storage market state + forecast\n\n\nTechnical improvements in solar / storage\n\n\nHow to evaluate feasibility for energy projects\n\n\nHighlights of completed local projects\n\nRegulatory updates\nTax and financial incentives available to commercial and industrial users\n\n  \nAnthony Manna is President of Hello Sunray\, a commercial energy company helping organizations evaluate\, develop\, and execute solar\, energy storage\, and broader energy strategies.  Drawing on a background in entrepreneurship\, management consulting\, and finance\, Anthony focuses on bridging the technical\, financial\, and utility considerations that shape complex energy investments.  He holds an MBA in finance from Case Western Reserve University and works with commercial and institutional customers to navigate project economics\, utility requirements\, procurement\, and implementation.  His work is centered on turning energy opportunities into executable projects and helping organizations move from initial concept through real-world deployment. \n  \nShawn DaVis is the Vice President of Sustainability and Energy Programs at the Greater Cleveland Partnership (GCP). With over 20 years of Economic Development experience\, he is a strong resource for the business community\, providing leadership and resources to businesses in the Cleveland MSA with a focus on the GCP’s membership. In his current role\, he oversees GCP’s sustainability and energy programs and initiatives. This strategic leadership role oversees programs\, manages key internal and external stakeholder relationships\, and serves as liaison to all GCP strategic pillars to advance sustainability and Energy goals in our region. \nPrior to joining GCP\, Shawn spent 10 years in various roles in the automotive manufacturing sector including: Plant Manager\, Process Engineer\, Constraint Management leader\, Lean Manufacturing Trainer\, CNC programmer and entrepreneur. \nMr. DaVis also worked 6 years at the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Cleveland. \nMr. DaVis is a Cleveland native who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Cleveland State University\, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Case Western Reserve’s Weatherhead School of Management. \n  \nLunch will be served at 11:30am with the presentation beginning at 12:00pm. \nRegistration deadline is Tuesday\, September 22 at 5:00PM EST.
